Who We Are.
My name is Ted Horton. I am a property owner, residential developer, and builder who wanted to respond to the need Owners had for professional production of distinctive homes and estates.
Meeting the goals of defining what you want, within the budget you have, and within the time you want it has challenged me and my company since our first distinctive home in San Francisco. Producing the asset is easy, once we know what we need to build.
Costs can get out of line quickly in the "managing the moonshot" process of delivering the ultimate luxury good--the completely designed home or estate. The sheer number of small changes can swamp the momentum a team has developed, without owners being aware of it.
My company, Antaeus Properties, has planned, developed or built over $155 million of distinctive residential real estate in the past ten years. We understand, appreciate and get great buildable design. We are constantly in the market, and have a good idea of what quality should cost. By recruiting the right team and negotiating good agreements, we set the stage for producing quality construction. On time. On budget.

Where the Name comes from.
Antaeus was a character in Greek mythology. His father was Poseidon, the god of the seas, and his mother was Gaia, the earth goddess. His strength lay in his grounded approach to life and his professions as a wrestler and a builder. As a Navy Seabee officer stationed in Greece, I came to appreciate the influence mythology had on understanding both the spiritual strength and immediate fact aspects of life and living.
Antaeus was invincible as long as he remained in contact with the earth. This contact with the land is what provides the strength in our production of distinctive properties.
This mythological character serves as a reminder that we lose focus and momentum when we try to produce assets that do not reflect the location, the context, or the intrinsic value of where we build.
